From the Charleston region, State House incumbents receiving the endorsement are: Joseph Jefferson (Dist. 102); David Mack III (109); Wendell Gilliard (111); J. Seth Whipper (113); and Kenneth Hodges (121).
Carol Tempel, a challenger in Dist. 115, is also endorsed.
In the State Senate, incumbent Robert Ford (Dist. 42) and Dist. 41 candidate Paul Tinkler are backed by the trade union federation.
In county council races, Charleston’s incumbentVic Rawl and Dorchester candidate Miriam Birdsong are supported.
Bobbie Rose for the 1st U.S. Congressional Dist. and Gloria Bromell Tinubu in the 7th are also endorsed by SC AFL-CIO.
All but three of those endorsed from across the state are candidates of the Democratic Party.
Both Tempel and Birdsong were originally Democratic candidates, but were included in the almost 250 across the state who were removed after a glitch in initial filing; Congressional Dist. 2 candidate Harold Geddings is independent.
