A May 10 forum, though, hosted by the West Ashley Democrats, intends to discuss and analyze the specific issues that unify this largest sector of the population, as well as the unification of its voice and votes.
The community forum takes place at the ILA Hall (1422 Morrison Dr in N. Charleston), and starts at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday the 10th.
Topics included in this forum are threats to the general population imposed by the budget cuts suggested by House Republicans; their attacks on civil rights in general and workers’ rights in particular; and the surge of alienation felt by the public majority due to crude tactics employed by Republicans across the country so far this year.
The panelists are Judge Alex Sanders, Rev. Joseph Darby, outgoing state Democratic Party chair Carol Fowler, and new SCDP chair Dick Harpootlian.
There is no charge to attend the event, which is of anticipated duration of two hours.
